Akamai Launches Hi-Def Web Video Portal

Akamai announced the launched of a showcase portal with a Flash-based electronic program guide for high-definition web videos from the BBC, NBA, MTV and others.

The “HDWeb” site is sponsored by Verizon Fios and will be up for two weeks, offering video files that may be downloaded and played back in Quicktime or Microsoft Media Player. [...]

‘Daily Show’ Web site to Stream Archives

Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show With Jon Stewart” has launched a new Web site, DailyShow.com, that will present almost the entire nine-year video archive of the show.

EchoStar Scoops Sling

Microsoft Launches Silverlight Video with Select Content Partners

Microsoft launched its Silverlight video player with partners including CBS, HSN and WWE.
CBS which will use Silverlight video on a site dedicated to its Sept. 16 Emmy Awards broadcast; and “ET” will introduce Silverlight on a micro-site offering interviews, red carpet coverage, make video mash-ups and streaming of the “ET” after-party.

Apple iPod Touch Gets Wi-Fi, YouTube, Touch-Screen

Veoh TV Launches DVR for Web Video

LucasFilm to Let TV Fans Remix Clone Wars

Study Says No Future in iTunes-Like Paid Video Services
