BrightCove Launching Video Mashup Tool — “iMovie for the Web”

Internet TV service provider Brightcove announced a new online consumer editing and production tool it is billing as a “iMovie for the web.” Dubbed Aftermix, the new service will allow users to upload video or record video directly from a webcam. Aftermix will also allow editors to incorporate rights-cleared assets from Brightcove’s media partners.

In a recent demonstration Brightcove founder Jeremy Allaire showed how Aftermix lets a user record a video clip with a Web cam and upload it to become instantly available for inclusion in video being edited online, such as to create voiceovers. Clips pulled into a project can be trimmed, MP3 sound tracks and voice overs dropped in and scene transitions added.
